On August 28, Queen Elizabeth accepted a request from PM Johnson to suspend the parliamentary sessions between September 9 and October 14. Although insisted that the negotiations with EU Block over a Brexit will continue, there is actually no plan on the table that suggests there is a roadmap. It seems Johnson’s government is getting ready to early election in case opposition could target him with a no-confidence motion.
Despite the fact that opposition is one vote less in majority in the House of Commons, the motion still would stand a decent chance. However, there is no plan even a potential consensus among opposition leaders how Brexit should be handled or even who might be the leader for any potential government since there is a strong resistance among opposition leaders to Corbyn leadership even among its own Labor party.
Given the fact that room to negotiate UK’s departure from the EU bloc is getting more inevitable than ever, it is surprising to see UK is not able to do anything else about it. It is for imminent that even if hard Brexit will take place, the way it is handled displays that it would a major debate in UK politics in decades to come. Moreover, the way how Brexit is handled showed an important issue to us; UK is lacking leadership like Lloyd George, Churchill, Attlee, Blair, Thatcher.
