Talks about the use of the precious Nile water have been at a dead end for years. Shortly after the end of the latest round of negotiations in the ongoing conflict over the Great Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), the main counterparts — Egypt and Ethiopia — started blaming each other.
 
Most parties are afraid that a war might erupt unless meaningful settlement is reached. However, it is very unlikely since the two countries do not share any land border. Moreover, Egypt has regional issue weighing more attention that the dam; Libya.
 
Egypt is not only concerned how the Nile shall be shared but its regional power has been eroding by those who once are neglected by Egypt.
