As Geopolitics Compass have said previously, it is Turkey’s interest to offer military assistance to Central Asian countries to control the borders especially in Turkmenistan.

Russia has already planned three exercisers in Tajik – Afghan border during October, the fourth one is set in November. Russia had already completed several drills in Kyrgyzstan. 500 Russian troops already in Tajikistan for tactical maneuvers. Russia has also transferred T-72 tanks to mountains of Tajikistan for exercises.

These are all indication that Moscow does not want to see itself in a war with Afghanistan again. Because they are aware that if Taliban influences in neighboring countries, Russia will hard time to control the ex-Soviet nations in long run.

Therefore, it is Russian strategy to deploy its troops and show its willingness to Afghanistan to protect its borders starting from ex-Soviet nation’s borders to Taliban. This is also very good opportunity to Moscow to win some of its influences in ex-Soviet space and keep major players like Turkey out of its sphere of influence.

Turkey should have already (unless done) offered the Turkic states military assistance and technology to reinforce their border patrol and security with Afghanistan. It is very clear from Russian motives that if you act early, you win. That is the difference between strategical thinker and field player.
