In the beginning of September, Morocco held parliamentary elections. PJD (Islamic Justice and Development Party) lost the elections wining on13 seats of its 125 seats in parliament. After all years on top spot in parliament, why PJD failed?

In fact, the answer is simple. Moroccans became less concerned with its religious discourse of the party. They had not seen major improvements in their standards of living. Many civil servants accuse the government for mismanagement and imposing unpopular policies such as reducing post-retirement benefits, lifting fuel subsidies and increasing retirement age. Moreover, statement favoring restoring relations with Israel led demonstrations against the PJD government.

In Turkey, the situation is not different for AKP. There are many unpopular policies being introduced by AKP government. Moreover, the corruption is being one the biggest problem in the era of economic hardship and covid-19 pandemic. President Erdogan intervene the economic decision in accordance with his religious belief but not economic necessities, reducing the interest rates unexpectedly to lower lows while exchange rate fluctuates greatly.

There is 2023 presidential election in Turkey. Morocco has shown an important fact to AKP in Turkey. Despite your religious belief, people need tangible results in their life standard while living in better situation than before. However, things cannot be sustained unless worked hard. AKP has used all ways to remain in power so far but the tools are getting less to remain in power in one coming term.
