Turkey has created a strategic triangle by acquiring Suarin Island for Turkish establishment in Middle East, Indian Ocean and Persian Gulf. Turkey has bases in Somalia, Qatar and likely to establish one in Suarin Island, Sudan. While Ottoman Empire was in the region, Suarin Island was navy base for Ottoman Navy to protect Hejaz and West Arap Penisula.
When looked at from this perspective, Turkey can establish its military presence from the Indian Ocean to the Persian Gulf on the energy transitions routes. This strategic move enables Turkey to become a key player in the region.
Turkey especially with East Asia countries which demand huge energy will eventually establish an understanding concerning security of energy routes in relation to bilateral trades. The vital countries for Turkey will be South Korea and Japan which are also important allies since Turkey wants to access advanced technology.
