Palestinians condemned as blackmail on Wednesday U.S. President Donald Trump’s threat to withhold future aid payments over what he called the Palestinians’ unwillingness to talk peace with Israel.
A spokesman for President Mahmoud Abbas insisted Jerusalem was "not for sale" - a reference to Mr Trump's recognition of the city as the capital of Israel.
President Trump in series of tweets saying "Hundreds of millions of dollars a year” yet gets “no appreciation or respect.” He added that “with the Palestinians no longer willing to talk peace, why should we make any of these massive future payments to them?”
The United States has provided the West Bank and Gaza Strip with around $400 million in economic assistance annually since 2008.
US intends to restrain Palestinian with financial resources. This might work to get some incentives on the behlaf of Israel but will not help US to reach a ultimate solution.
