Saudi Arabia’s King Salman has met with the director of the Central Intelligence Agency, Mike Pompeo, in the Saudi capital, Riyadh.
The official Saudi Press Agency says the two discussed bilateral relations and regional developments.
Earlier this month, Pompeo said he’d sent a letter to Gen. Qassem Soleimani, the head of Iran’s elite fighting Quds Force, warning him that the United States would hold Tehran accountable for any attacks it conducted on American interests in Iraq.
Saudi Arabia is a major member of Islamic Organization. However Saudi Arabia did not attend the meeting in IStanbul last week where the recognition of Quds as capital of Palestinian by Muslim States are decided. Saudi Arabia other than need of US support did not want Turkey to get power among Muslim States.
The competition between Saudi Arabia and Turkey will likely to get hotter in 2018. Turkey in lack of Quds support to Palestinian will challenge to Saudi Arabia as leader of Muslim States.
