Both sides met on 15/01/2018 in Arbil to discuss the oil export deal. Though the meeting suggests that the two sides are inching closer to common ground, several points of contention remain between the Iraqi and Kurdish governments.

Baghdad wants to give fuel and 12.6% of the oil budget to Arbil as revenue where as KRG wants to have 17%. Despite the fact that KRG knows that Baghdad cannot meet with the expectation, KRG would expect somewhat to a number in between.

However KRG intension already signals that any deal to meet will not survive for a long time in future.
