Operation "Operation Olive Branch" has started to purge the terrorist from Afrin, Syria.
The Kurdish terrorist group targeted, known as the YPG, is active in the Afrin region, across from Turkey's southern border. The terrorist group which is allied with United States in their last statement indicated they repulsed the attack.
However this only to hold the morale of their people high at site. The intension of Turkish army is not occupy Afrin mmediately.
There are 73 airplanes attending this operatonin including some thousands of Free Army Syria fighters to this operation. Turkey's primary focus is to go into depth of Syria as 30 kmin order to secure the land and then start purging the terrorist to east of Euphrates river.
Turkey is well aware that Turkish armed forces would secure the 30 km depth lands from the border into Syria in an around 5 days to 10 days at most. But purging the terorist along its border would require much longer time.
That is the main reason why terrorist are worried so much that President Erdogan has said it openly that following Afrin, Menbic is next. That is why the attacks or the terrorist defence is not very strong but to make Turkish armed forces tired and exhausted as much as possible.
However either Afrin would take months and next would be Menbic to follow, this would not stop any time soon. Turkey, for its national security, has understood that all the terror fragmentations should be purged along its border, not only with Syria but also with Iraq. Therefore, it should be well expected that there would be many operations to follow in next years.
